CMA Group Of The Year ?

On Thursday August 13, 1992 from the steps of the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tennessee, co-announcers Tanya Tucker and Marty Stewart read the name Sawyer Brown as one of the nominees for Vocal Group Of The Year at the 26th Annual CMA Award Show. It was the first time in their eleven year career that Sawyer Brown was nominated for the CMA Vocal Group Of The Year, their only other CMA nominee was in 1985 when they were nominated for the Horizon award, which they won. Other nominees for the vocal group category include Alabama, Shenandoah, Diamond Rio, and McBride and the Ride. The award show will be telecast live on CBS TV from the Grand Ole Opry House on Wednesday, September 30th, at 8:00 PM CDT.

New Album Now Available

Sawyer Brown's Curb Records debut album Cafe On The Corner, hit the street August 25th. This was the 10th album for Sawyer Brown of which the nine previous were a joint venture between Curb Records and Capitol Records, this being the first solo project for Curb. Curb Records plans a big promotional campaign for the Cafe On The Corner album as well as the entire Sawyer Brown catalogue of past albums. From September through the end of the year you should see various displays, videos, etc. in many of your local K-mart, Walmart, Target, Musicland, Camelot, Sam Goody's, Tower Records, and many other retail outlets. We would like to know when you see any advertisements for Sawyer Brown in any of your local record outlets, So please let us know.

Curb Records kicked off the 25th of August by giving Sawyer Brown an Album Release party to celebrate the 10th album as well as the Curb solo project. The party was held at Mack's Cafe here in Nashville, the site of the video and album shoot. The entire Curb staff was on hand to join the celebration, (including those based in L.A. as well as Nashville), also in attendance was Dick Whitehouse, Vice President of Curb Records. Nashville Music attendees included representatives from the CMA, ACM, CMT, TNN, CNN, Music City News, local radio and television and many others. Many of the industry supporters of Sawyer Brown through the year turned out, all those involved in the making of the album as well as many friend and family. The party was a great send off for Cafe On The Corner

New Single Best Yet

Yet another new standard was set with the release of the new single Cafe On The Corner. as it debuted at number 39 on the R&R weekly chart, surpassing the mark of 43 set earlier in the year by Some Girls Do. The single is currently in its fifth week and as of this printing it holds the 21st position on the R&R chart, number 17 on the Gavin Report, and number 31 on the Billboard chart. Please keep those request lines busy to support Cafe On The Corner, Many radio stations base the strength of a song on the amount of response it receives from listening audience, so each call does mean something. The same true with writing CMT, so keep their mailbox full.
